Roger W. Malzacher Kearney Resident Roger W. Malzacher, 67, of Kearney, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at his home in Kearney. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 10, 2018 at Kearney First United Methodist Church. Pastor Melody Adams will officiate.

Burial will take place at Riverdale Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 9 at the O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.

Roger William Malzacher was born on November 17, 1951, to Paul A. Malzacher, Sr. and Dorothy (Ladwig) Malzacher in Tilden, Nebraska. He received his education from Neligh High School, where he graduated with the class of 1970. Roger worked as traffic manager for Baldwin Filters for 44 years.

On September 22, 1984, Roger was united in marriage to Mariann Gabriel and to this union two children were born: Nicole and Annessa. In earlier years, Roger was active in horse breeding and raising longhorn cattle. He was a longtime member of the Western Wranglers Saddle Club.

He enjoyed Husker football, hunting, fishing and woodworking. Roger spent a lot of time outdoors and enjoyed taking care of his yard and livestock. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mariann; daughters, Nicole Johannsen and Annessa Malzacher; granddaughter, Juhl Johannsen, all of Kearney; brothers, Paul A. Malzacher, Jr. and his wife, Deanna of Kearney and Mark S. Malzacher and his wife, Valerie of Hudson, Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Dennis Funk of Clearwater, Nebraska; nieces and nephews, Brian, Chad, Curtis, Heather, Sam, Steven and Amanda; along with many other relatives and friends.
