Shad Carpenter Kearney Resident Shad Carpenter, 54, of Kearney passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at his home. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2019 at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Carpenter was born on May 27, 1964 in Valentine, Nebraska to Walter Wayne and Kathy Helen (Walters) Carpenter. He attended Kearney High School graduating with the class of 1982, and then went on to further his education at the University of NE-Kearney receiving a degree in Industrial Education.

Shad worked with his father at Carpenter Construction and together they built several commercial buildings. Shad was also employed by Sampson Construction as a superintendent. He later worked on his own as a sub-contractor.

His hobbies included golfing, hunting, music and spending time with his family. Shad loved his dogs and was an avid Steelers fan. Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Waco Carpenter of Kearney; step-mother, Maureen Carpenter of Grand Island; niece, Misean Carpenter of Kearney; nephews, Wryan Carpenter and his fiancé, Macey Mathews, Elijah Carpenter and Trey Carpenter, Sagan Sculley and his wife, Cassi, all of Kearney; great nephew, Maxwell Haverkamp and his fiancé, Courtney Wilki of Kearney; 7 great nieces and nephews; 3 great-great nieces and nephews ;along with many other relatives and friends.
