Jean M. Criss Gibbon Resident Jean M. Criss, 86, of Gibbon passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at CHI Health-Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 11, 2019 at the O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. Interment will follow at Broken Bow Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 10 at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Condolences may be shared online at www.

osrfh.com. Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services. Jean Marie Criss was born on November 6, 1932 in Buffalo County, Nebraska to Harold F. and Marjorie L. (Long) Covert.

She grew up in the Kearney area and attended Kearney High School. Jean worked at West Company for more than 15 years. Jean was united in marriage to Harlan “Rusty” Criss on April 24, 1965 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The couple lived in the Kearney area most of their lives. Rusty preceded Jean in death on September 26, 2005. Jean was a member of the Methodist Church, the Eagles Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Her hobbies included crocheting, embroidery, gardening, fishing and boating. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Daniel Hebb and his wife, Mardell of Kearney, Marlana Karash and her husband, Randy of Oxford, Sandra Hillstead and her husband, Ben of Loup City, Rhonda Harrison of Loup City, Cheryl Casey of Branson, Missouri, Carrie Criss of Kearney, Michael Criss and his wife, Carolyn of Chappell, Ronald Criss of Johnson Lake, Steven Criss of Springfield, Missouri; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; siblings, Carol Archer and her husband, Don of Kearney, Darrell Covert and his wife, Jo of Kearney, Gary Covert and his wife, Linda of Lincoln, and Bob Covert and his wife, Darla of Kearney; along with many other relatives and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sons-in-law, Jim Harrison and Jim Casey; brothers, Richard Covert and Dale Covert; and sisters, Bernadine Scott and Lucille Scott.
