Violet Laue Kearney Resident Violet D. Laue, 93, of Kearney, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Mount Carmel Home in Kearney. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Kearney. The Rev.

So Yeong Son will officiate. Burial will follow at Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

osrfh.com. Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services. Violet was born on April 21, 1925 in rural Gibbon to Gerald W. Covert and Mae (Long) Covert.

She grew up and attended grade school in rural Gibbon. Later the family moved to Kearney and she attended Kearney High School. On May 14, 1946, she married John L. Laue, Jr. in Phillipsburg, KS.

Violet worked at various places including the City of Kearney for 8 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Violet enjoyed sewing, quilting, fishing, camping and doing crafts.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Darrel “Butch” Laue and his wife, Cindy of Bayfield, CO and Jerry Laue and his wife, Kay of Kearney; daughters, Patricia Hotz of Omaha, Barbara Johnson and her husband, Kenneth and Rita Mortimore and her husband, Donald, all of Kearney; sister, Reita Maret of Omaha; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jacqueline Laue; granddaughter, Amy Johnson; sisters, Grace Best, Arlene Schultz, and Virginia Busher.
