Billy L. Newhouse Kearney Resident Bill Newhouse, 74, of Kearney passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2018 surrounded by family at his home in Kearney. Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. Chaplain Steve Shanno is officiating.

A private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Crossroads Rescue Mission. Condolences may be shared online at www.

osrfh.com. Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services. Billy Lee “Bill” Newhouse was born on March 2, 1944 to Harry “Edward” and Nellie “Cecil” (Allington) Newhouse in Callaway, Nebraska.

He attended school in Callaway until he was 16 years old, and later earned his GED in his 50’s from Cozad high school. Bill was a man of many talents. He farmed for 20 years near Oconto, Nebraska after high school.

He then worked in construction, drove truck and managed motels. Bill was united in marriage to Joan Eichelberger in 1964 at Shickley, Nebraska and to this union three children were born: Marci, Lanett and Doug. Since the 1990’s the couple managed several motels together around the area, until they purchased their own.

Bill and Joan owned and operated motels in Knob Noster, Missouri and Minneapolis, Kansas until recently moving back to the Kearney area. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joan Newhouse of Kearney; daughters, Marci Dockweiler and her husband, James of Kearney and Lanett Conroy and her husband, Mitch of Oconto, Nebraska; grandchildren, Dexter (Danielle) Dockweiler, Hannah Stevens, Brett Dockweiler, Cassidy Conroy, Hallie Conroy and Taylor Conroy; great-grandchildren, Adyn and Adyson Stevens and Emma Dockweiler; sister, Noma Chadd of Callaway, Nebraska; along with many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; son, Doug Newhouse and granddaughter, Morgan Conroy.
