Donald O. Franks Kearney Resident Donald O. Franks, 79, of Kearney passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Mt. Carmel Home in Kearney. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 1, 2019 at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney.

Pastor Don Endicott will officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Gibbon with Military Honors provided by Gibbon American Legion #316 in conjunction with Offutt Air Force Base Military Honors Team. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney.

Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services. Donald Orville Franks was born November 14, 1939 in Kearney to Orville Ray and Helen (Buck) Franks. He was united in marriage to Beverly Dancer on December 27, 1956 in Hastings and to this union four children were born: Mike, Debbie, Steven and Rick.

Don proudly served in the United States Air Force, serving from 1957 to 1963. Donald was a minister at Church of God of Prophecy, serving in Wyoming, Colorado and Nebraska. He loved his church and it was the center of his life.

Donald also enjoyed horses and riding motorcycles. He was a member of Church of God of Prophecy. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Beverly Franks of Kearney; his children, Mike Franks and his wife, Gerri of Gibbon, Debbie Dye and her husband, Bill of Canon City, Colorado and Rick Franks and his wife, Pamela of Gibbon; 9 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; sister, Lois Hyde of Kearney; along with many other relatives and friends.

Donald was preceded in death by his son, Steven R. Franks; his parents; sister, Judy Heinzman; and brother, Wayne Franks. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Donald O. Franks please visit our Sympathy Store.
