Obituary for David Michael McWhirter David Michael McWhirter was born on June 20, 1966, in Sacramento, CA and died unexpectedly in his home on April 4, 2018, in Dundee, OR. Although David served a short time in the Army he was born into, and grew up in, an Air Force family that started out at Mather AFB in Sacramento. The family then moved on to Laredo, Texas; Omaha, Nebraska; Kailua, Hawaii; Shreveport, Louisiana; and Rapid City, South Dakota.

Prior to enlisting in the Army, David spent time in Sherwood, OR with his family. After his service he moved back to Sherwood, spent time in King City and then purchased a home and moved to Dundee. In the Army, David excelled at marksmanship and athleticism, including all the physical demands and challenges.

After his honorable discharge at Red Stone Arsenal, Alabama, he did woodworking, metal working and excelled at anything mechanical. His latest passion was Texas Hold’em Poker where he acquired many friends and enjoyed the camaraderie. His family and friends will miss him and remember him for his kind, affectionate, gentle, and generous spirit.

David is preceded in death by his grandparents Harold and Maria Radke and James (JD) and Hazel McWhirter; uncle Dan Radke and cousin Erinn Radke. He is survived by his parents J. Michael and Linda Radke McWhirter; sister Susan McWhirter Myhre (David); nephews Justin McWhirter Myhre and Colton McWhirter Myhre; aunt Patricia Radke Garstka (Paul); aunt Madelane Snyder Radke and cousins Devin Radke (Michelle), Gregg Garstka (Cristen), and Hallie Garstka Malcom (Curtis). Other surviving family members include uncle J. Jeffries McWhirter and family and second cousins in the Radke, Kafalias, Rathke, and Huntley families.
