Obituary for David “Mickey” Moore David “Mickey” Moore, age 73, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, October 8, 2018 at the family residence. Mickey was born on the 19th of August in 1945 in Memphis, TN in a hospital because he always said “He wanted to be close to his mom” and he was the son of the late Myrtle Griffis Moore and Russell Miller Moore. His maternal and paternal grandparents, Malcolm and Emma Griffis and John and Bertha Hurrelson also preceded him in death.

Mickey spent the majority of years growing up in Goldsboro, NC. After graduating from Goldsboro High School, Mickey enlisted in United States Air Force. He served for 4 years between 1964 and 1968.

Upon returning from Japan, he married Donna Deans after a two year engagement. He earned an associate degree in electronics from Wayne Community College while still attending High School. After discharge from the service, he attended Lee College earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Science.

He went on to earn a Register Nurse degree from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC. He worked at Bradley Memorial Hospital as the Emergency Room Director and House Supervisor for a total of 30 years. At the time of his death, he served as the Director of Health Services at Lee University.

Mickey was an amazing servant of Jesus Christ. His faith in the Lord was evident in his love for the Church, his family, his friends and his humble and steadfast character. Mickey’s quick wit and humor were traits that brought smiles to many faces.

He also enjoyed fishing, camping and cooking especially when family and friends were involved. Mickey was a long time member of the Westmore Church of God. Survivors include his wife, Donna Moore of Cleveland, his son, Brent Moore and his wife Michelle, his grand daughter, Maren Moore, his grandson, Evan Moore, his sisters, Sandy Eubanks and her husband Bill, Betty Grantham and her husband Mitchell, Donna Grimes and her husband John and several nieces and nephews also survive.

The Remembrance of Life Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 1:00 P. M. at the Westmore Church of God with Dr. Henry Smith, Bill Eubanks, Dr. Bill Balzano, Calvin Richey and Dr. Mike Hayes officiating. Graveside Services and Interment will be held private for the family at the Chattanooga National Cemetery where military honors will be given. Dr. Jerome Boone, Herbert Myers, John Simmons, Jim Conner, Terry Grffey and Russell Eubanks will serve as casket bearers.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 1:00 on Saturday at the Westmore Church of God. The family request that in lieu of flowers, Memorials be given to the Wetsembekile Ministries of Swaziland, South Africa, P. O. Box 2958 Centennial, Colorado 80161 or go to wetsembekile.org. The Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel has charge of the arrangements.
