David Nathan Moore Sr., 64, of Newport News, passed from this life on February 8, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred D. Moore Jr. and Nellie V. Moore; and his sister, Brenda M. Langhorne. He is survived by his two sons, David N. Moore, Jr. of Newport News, Virginia and Kevin A. Moore of Los Angeles, California; one daughter, Shanette Joyner of Alexandria, Virginia; his beloved five grandchildren, Lance, Shanay, Jeremiah, David III, and Devyn; two brothers, Fred D. Moore, Jr. of Surry, Virginia and Fred (Rudolph) R. Moore of Newport News, Virginia; one sister, Chrystal Roberts of Newport News, Virginia; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

He was educated in the Newport News public schools and entered the U.S. Army with his best friend, Darrell Brown, shortly after. He worked for the Newport News Railroads and went on to work for the cities of Richmond and Newport News. A home going service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Macedonia Baptist Church, 5500 Marshall Ave.

Burial with military honors will follow in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk at 2 p.m. Please join us in comforting the Moore family by uplifting them with your prayers.
