David Murray Gillis (Age 89) of Potomac, MD passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018. Beloved husband of Maria Justo Gillis (deceased), son of James Ernest Gillis and Corinne MacFarland Gillis. Father of David Stuart Gillis (Laura).

Brother to James (deceased) (Evelyn – deceased), Peter (Rita – deceased) and Paul (Margie). Uncle to James Gillis (deceased), Kenneth Gillis (deceased), Joseph Gillis (Laura), Maureen Gillis (Michael), Brian Gillis (Patricia), Kathleen Gillis, Patricia Dempster (William), Elizabeth Gillis, John Gillis (Katie), Angie Geier (Richard), Susie Hodges (Wiley), Mary Lynn Clark (Matthew), Chris Gillis (Lynsay), and a host of many other relatives and friends. Mr. Gillis was born in Washington, DC on December 15, 1928.

He graduated from Georgetown University with a B.S. degree in Accounting and George Washington University with an MBA. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1948 and served the U.S. Army Finance Corps in the Korean War until 1955. After serving his country, he worked for 40 years at Chesapeake and Potomac (C&P) and Bell Atlantic Telephone Companies.

Viewing at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 9200 Kentsdale Dr, Potomac, MD 20854 at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 28, 2018, followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20906. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to S.O.M.E at www. some.org.
