David R. VanMeter, 81, of Bicknell passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019 while surrounded by his loving family. David was born in Bruceville, IN. , February 17, 1937 to the late Virgil L. VanMeter and Mary VanMeter (Boyles).

He was a 1955 graduate of Bruceville High School and soon after on March 23, 1957 was wed to Barbara Mattingly and they have shared 61 wonderful years of marriage together. David was employed as a mechanic for PSI and was a proud United States Air Force Veteran; who was awarded the Dwight Eisenhower Citation and the Good Conduct Award. David is survived by; his loving wife, Barbara Mattingly VanMeter; one son, John VanMeter of Freelandville, IN; two daughters, Joan Puckett (Brian) of Oaktown, IN and Jacki Gandy (Rick) of Edwardsport, IN; six grandchildren, Kyle VanMeter, Jessica Johnson, Lacy Myrtle, Dusti VanMeter, Matthew Gandy, and Joshua Gandy and ten great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by; his parents; one son, Pete VanMeter; and one brother, Lloyd VanMeter. Visitation will be Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home, Bicknell Chapel with a service following Friday, January 25, 2019 at noon also at the Funeral home. .

Entombment will be in Bicknell Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorial contributions can be made to the Knox County Humane Society. Online condolences may be made at www.
