Funeral services for David Russell McBride, Jr., 85, of Edgewood, are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Monday, March 4, 2019, at the First Baptist Church in Edgewood. Burial will be at Small Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.

David passed away March 1, 2019, at his home in Edgewood, TX. David Russell McBride, Jr. was born April 24, 1933, in the Bright Star Community near Wills Point, TX, to parents, David Russell McBride, Sr. and Velma Katy Peckham McBride. After graduating high school, David married Gladys Mae Woodruff on July 18, 1953, in Rockwall, TX.

He enlisted in the United States Army to serve his country for two years and was discharged at Fort Hood. David was self-employed for thirty-six years manufacturing coils and springs as a co-owner of Spring Engineers in Dallas until he sold in 1986. He and Gladys have been members of the Edgewood community since 1980 and are members of the First Baptist Church.

David served on the Edgewood ISD School Board and also the South Tawakoni Water Board earlier in his life. From 1988, David built metal buildings in East Texas, farmed, ran cattle and bailed hay until June of 2018. David loved his family and enjoyed their family gatherings.

He is preceded in death by his, parents, David and Velma McBride; brother, Freddy Burdon McBride; granddaughter, April Dodd. David is survived by his wife, Gladys McBride of Edgewood; daughters, Debbie Treadway and husband, Don of Edgewood and Judy Lynn Dodd and husband, Billy of Bullard; grandsons, Don David Treadway and wife, Stacy of Edgewood, Randall Todd Treadway and wife, Bree of Edgewood, Jeremy Lynn Treadway and wife, Cassandra of Edgewood, Porter Duane Treadway and wife, Brandi of Edgewood and Brent Dodd and wife, Jenny of Bullard; fourteen great grandchildren; sisters, Juanita Spradlin of Holtom City, Louise Boles of Forney and Joyce Faye Moore of Kaufman. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM, Sunday, March 3, 2019, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.
