David’s Obituary David Carl Schwenck, 53, of Sioux Falls, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on May 1, 2019. A mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Sioux Falls. The family will be present for visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 6, at Heritage Funeral Home.

Dave was born on July 15, 1965, in Sioux Falls and was the fifth of six children born to Earl and Audrey Schwenck. He graduated from Washington High School in 1983 and for much of his life worked in the transportation services industry, where he was most recently self-employed. Dave remained close to his large family throughout his life, and he had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephew.

He followed their lives with great interest and obvious pride. Dave lived simply and with great humility. He was a quiet man with a gentle spirit.

Dave spoke with kindness and knowledge and would surprise you with his quick wit. He was always more concerned with listening than talking. From an early age, Dave was an avid sports fan.

He inherited an affection for the New York Yankees from his dad and remained a loyal fan throughout his life, a courageous decision while living among so many local Minnesota Twins fans. Whether it was sports or the news of the day, Dave was always well informed and would read the newspaper from beginning to end. He was a natural athlete who easily picked up any sport he tried.

His golf swing was silky smooth, and he could throw any ball like a rocket. Dave loved all games, from bean bag toss to whist to any board game that might happen to be in the cupboard. Dave was very introspective.

Unassuming and patient, he earnestly sought God’s Divine guidance, and he thought deeply. At the center of his life was his family for whom he maintained unbounded love. Dave’s physical presence on earth will be greatly missed, even as we celebrate the glorious eternity that awaits him.

Very grateful for having shared Dave’s life are his mother, Audrey Schwenck, Sioux Falls; siblings Bruce Schwenck, Mitchell, Joni (Ray)Reiffenberger, Sioux Falls, Bill Schwenck, Sioux Falls, Dan Schwenck, Sioux Falls and Sue (Mark) Salter, Sioux Falls. Also his nieces, Jess (Tyler) Muth and their children Finn, Keegan and Claire, Ali (Camden) Neddestad and their children Cohen and Theo, Christina Salter, Sophia Salter and Julia Salter; and his nephew Jack Salter. Dave was preceded in death by his father, Earl Schwenck.
