David’s Obituary Harry David Stone, Sr., the only son of Harry Washington Stone, Sadie Scurry Stone and stepmother, Bela Ard Stone passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018 at McLeod Hospice House. David was born in Sumter, South Carolina on September 12, 1940. He attended Sumter County Schools through the eighth grade and Lake City High School for grades nine and ten.

His family then relocated to Mullins, where David attended and graduated from Mullins High School in the Class of 1958. He went on to graduate from the USC School of Pharmacy. He was actively involved in the pharmacy profession until his sickness was diagnosed in 2016.

David was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and brother and an avid Gamecock fan. He was a past member of many civic organizations. He had served on Marco Rural Water Board for 25 years as well as the Marion County Hospital Board of Commissioners also for 25 years.

He was a former board member for the Marion County Board of Registration and Elections. He was a Captain in the South Carolina Army National Guard and served as a member of the South Carolina Pharmacy Association. David was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church in Mullins where he served on many committees, taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.

He did all of this while working for 56 years as a small town pharmacist where he developed many lasting friendships with his many patients and customers. He worked in all areas of pharmacy and owned several pharmacies. Besides his father, mother and stepmother, David was predeceased by a stepsister, Ann Gobel.

He is survived by his loving wife, Aline Brooks Stone; two sons, H. David Stone Jr. (Anne) of Florence and Alex Michael Stone (Kim Perritte) of Mullins; two stepsons, David Stokes Brooks IV(Mary Ann) and William Smith Brooks (Candyce) of Mullins; a sister, Rosella Stone Croft (John) of Surfside Beach, SC and a stepsister, Frankie Ard Cottingham of St. Stephen, SC and ten grandchildren, Alex and Ashley Stone of Aiken; H.D. III, Daniel, Anna Caroline and William Stone of Florence, Lauren Brooks of Reidsville, NC and Savannah, Stokes, and Callie Brooks of Mullins. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Macedonia United Methodist Church in Mullins. David will lie in repose in the parlor of the church for one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Cedardale Cemetery. David is in the care of Meares Funeral Home of Mullins. If you would like to remember David, the family suggests that memorials be made in his memory to Macedonia United Methodist Church, 402 North Main Street, Mullins, South Carolina 29574.
