David’s Obituary David Walter Masberg, age 81, of Mankato died Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Health System – Mankato. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 20, 2019 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato.

Visitation will be one hour before service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be given to Calvary Cemetery or Schola Foundation. David was born November 23, 1937 to Joseph C. and Bonifacia D. (Thissen) Masberg in Mankato. He graduated from Loyola High School in 1955.

David served his country with the U.S. Navy from 1956-60. He was aboard the USS Alstede, a supply carrier to the Mediterranean. David was united in marriage to Judith A. Westphal on September 18, 1965 at Ss.

Peter and Paul Catholic Church. David worked for NSP-Xcel Energy as a district supervisor for 32 years before retiring. He later did shingling with the Happiness Crew and maintenance for the Singing Hills Girl Scout Camp.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, Waseca Development Corp, and the Girl Scout Council. He enjoyed wood working and helping his children with home projects. David is survived by his wife, Judy of Mankato; three children, Michael (Patty) Masberg of Waseca, Monica Higgins (Nader Kazeminy) of Palm Beach, FL, and Maggie Ferguson (Joe Rosol) of Des Moines, IA; four grandchildren, Steven Masberg, Katherine Masberg, Brian Ferguson, and Joseph Ferguson; sister, Rita Masberg of Mankato; two brothers, Bill (Marlene) Masberg of New Prague and Chuck (Kathy) Masberg of Apple Valley; many nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bonita (Walter) Huettl; and brother, Joseph (Bernice) Masberg.
