David Wayne Simmons, 58, of Carmi passed away at 11:45 p.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Deaconess Hospital- Midtown in Evansville, IN. He was born on August 22, 1959 in Carmi the son of David Carl and Bessie Marie (Page) Simmons. David married Kristie Knight on August 3, 2017.

He had worked as a truck driver for various companies along with owning his own truck. David could fix anything and enjoyed working on and repairing small engines. David is survived by his wife, Kristie of Carmi; two sons, David W. (Gena) Simmons, Jr. of Carmi and Daryl (Susan) Simmons of Marion, IL; a step-son, Gage Williams of Carmi; two granddaughters, Kadence and Lindsay Simmons; two sisters, Sandra Kay Mick of Crossville and Cheryl Stanley of Waverly, TN; and three brothers, Michael Simmons, James Richard “Pee Wee” Simmons and Scott Howard all of Carmi.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Tina Marie Ridings. A celebration of David Wayne Simmons Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 2, 2018 at New Beginnings Church of God in Carmi. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.
