George Chaffin, 92, of Carmi passed away at 8:55 p.m., Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. He was born in Eldorado, IL on May 24, 1926 the son of Virgil and Lora (Lamb) Chaffin. George married Ruth Dodd on December 6, 1952 and she survives.

He served in the US Navy during WWII. George was the owner of Industrial Lift Services in Chicago, IL from 1967-1992. He was a member of the Carmi American Legion Post #224.

George is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruth Chaffin, of Carmi; son, Timothy Chaffin, of Naperville, IL and four grandchildren, Julia, Sarah, Mary and Samuel Chaffin. A graveside funeral and burial for George Chaffin, 92, of Carmi will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Union Ridge Cemetery in Norris City with Military Rites by Carmi VFW and American Legion.
