Born to John Wayne Stevens and Madge Valerie (Kent) Stevens in Covina California on July 30, 1944.

He grew up in La Puente and went to Fairgrove School and was a member of the track team. He joined the US Marines Corps in 1962, right out of high school; He was a Staff sergeant Recon for 8531 H&S Company 1st Battalion 9th Completed jump school at Kadina Airbase in Okinawa Viet Nam Veteran. He received many medals including a Purple Heart with Clusters for wounds he received: a bullet wound to the shoulder and shrapnel to his knee and shoulder.

Married Kathleen Cleveland on March 26, 1965 in Baldwin Park Ca They had 3 children, Wendy, Jeffery, and Jacob Joined the Marine reserves in 1966 Honorable discharge in 1968 They moved the family to Oregon in 1975. David and Kathy were divorced in 1982. David moved back to California He married Patricia Larson in 1985; Patti died from unnatural causes in 2002.

Outside of the Marines David was a heavy equipment operator until he retired. All his life he enjoyed spending time in the outdoors; hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and riding his Harley’s. He was an avid survival enthusiast.

He did everything with a go big attitude. He was tough and ornery, but he loved his family and friends with his whole heart. He was “Boots on the ground” at war and at home.

He fought like a Marine until he took his last breath. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Madge. He is survived by: His sisters, Linda Jo and Jean.

His first wife, Kathy Fuller Children and their spouses: Wendy and Paul Paeschke, Jeffery David and Peggy Stevens, Jake and Mandy Stevens. Step-children: Rob and Elizabeth Larson and Lori Larson Grandchildren and step-grandchildren: Michael Zollman and his wife Bethany, Cassandra Fancher and her husband Cameron, Robert Paeschke and his wife Meghan, Courtney Bailey and her husband Michael, Kailey Cassell and her husband Joey, Riley David Stevens and his wife Marissa, Raymond Lowe, Alex Larson, Jason Goynes and his wife Kirsten, Kyle Larson and his wife Hallie, and Dyllan Larson and his wife Briana. Great-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren: Lincoln, Stetson, Jase, Carson, Sydney, April, Lena, Michael Jr, Gracelyn, Rylee, Niesha, Kayli, Lilly, Cooper, Eisley, and Calvin David Stevens.

He is also survived by his girlfriend, Joyce Walker, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral Services will be held at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 10:00AM with Pastor Steve Morris, Officiant.
