D Wayne Cordner , October 24, 1939 — May 03, 2019

DaWayne Cordner, our loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed peacefully from mortality on May 3, 2019. DaWayne was born in his grandmother’s home in Orem, Utah, on October 24, 1939, to David DaWayne and Alice Rebecca Mecham Cordner. He grew up in his family’s fruit orchards on the Orem Bench.

His younger years were filled with the wonders of farm life. He worked hard and loved all of the farm animals, especially his beloved pony, Trigger. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Florida Mission.

He also served in the Utah National Guard for eight years. He married Linda Jacklin on September 10, 1965 in the Salt Lake Temple. Their greatest desire was to have a large family and they succeeded!

They have welcomed 12 children, 53 grandchildren (with twin grandsons on the way), and 6 great grandchildren to their family. Each child was cherished by Grandpa DaWayne and his every desire became a longing to be involved personally in the life of each family member. He was active and energetic throughout his life.

He owned his own business, Cordner’s Typewriter, for many years. His children loved to go on ‘dates’ with him as he filled service calls to repair typewriters throughout Utah County. Later in his life, he and his son purchased Deck It Decks and he worked there until his retirement.

DaWayne cherished living in America and the freedoms it offered him and his family. He lived a life of devoted service to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved sharing the gospel as much as he loved serving his family. We all look forward to the day we will be wrapped in his big, bear hugs again.

DaWayne is survived by his wife Linda, his children, Ken (Robin) Cordner, Shannon (Nick) de Jel, Jen (Mike) Livingston, Mckay (MaryAnn) Cordner, Becky (Gordon) Eisert, Steven (Tina) Cordner, Annie (Damon) Hullinger, Katie Hirst, Mica Gibbons, Shelly (Eric) Johnson, Lindsey (Ben) Jensen, and Alex Cordner. He is also survived by his devoted sister Rhea (Dale) Carlson, and many adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren. There will be viewings Friday, May 10, from 6:00-8:00 pm and Saturday, May 11, from 11:00 am-12:30 pm followed by funeral services at 1:00 pm.

All proceedings will be held at the Alpine West Stake Center (327 Long Dr. Ct. , Alpine, Ut). Interment will be at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery following the services.
