Dawn Thompson-Fisher, age 60, of Galena Park, Texas, passed away on March 3, 2019. She was born on October 16, 1958 in Madisonville, Texas to Kenneth Thompson and Emma Nell Wilson. She graduated from Galena Park High School in 1976 and soon began her career as a Legal Assistant in Galena Park where she worked for 39 years.

On February 12,1983, Dawn married the love of her life, Butch Fisher. She was an active member of Second Baptist Church and was involved in the Galena Park Jacinto City Rotary Club, Galena Park Chamber of Commerce, Lifetime Member of Galena Park PTA, Early Headstart Policy Council, and Galena Park ISD Education Foundation, and she was the first woman commissioner to serve on the Galena Park City Council and was currently on the Galena Park ISD School Board of Trustees serving her seventeenth year. She enjoyed watching tv, movies, listening to music, shopping, and loved children; especially her grandchildren.

She was the love of her husband, Butch’s life. Dawn “Loved life and it loved her right back”. Her family and friends were etched in her heart and they were her spirit and motivation.

She is preceded in death by her parents. Dawn is survived by her husband of 36 years, Butch Fisher; son, Caleb Fisher; step-sons, Ted Duane Fisher and Ted William Fisher; step-daughter, Hollye Dexter & Troy; daughter-in-Love, Heather Fisher; brothers, Kenneth Edward Thompson & Carol and Steven Rucker & Rosana; grandchildren, Joshua Fisher, Jordan Spurlock, Taylor Dexter, Cristen Penn, and Evan Dexter; great-grandson, Ayumu Dexter; nephews, Travis Thompson & Leslie and their sons Garrett and Levi; and Brandon Richards & his fiancé Hannah Hargrave; nieces, Carly Rucker and her son Ian, and Anna Rucker; and a host of friends and loved ones. Family will receive family and friends on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Second Baptist Church, 1913 18th Street, Galena Park, Texas 77547, with A Celebration of Life to begin at 12:00 PM with a reception to follow.
