Obituary of Dawn Newell Dawn A. Newell, May 16, 1926 – May 13, 2018. Dawn age 91, passed away peacefully at Brookdale Fairhaven with her family by her side. As was her wish, we will have a Celebration of Life on Saturday, May 26th, from 1:00 – 4:00 at Parkway Square Condos Courtyard Cabana 2700 Old Fairhaven Parkway, Bellingham, WA 98225 and a private graveside service.

Dawn was born May 16th, 1926 in Roslyn, Washington to Frank and Myrtle Campbell. Dawn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Volney Newell, Jr.; her son: Daryl Rickman; her brother Jack Lewis, brother-in-law, Dean Adkinson and son-in-law Michael Fayard. She is survived by her three children: Debbie Fayard, Tonasket, WA; Jerry Newell; Silverdale, WA; and Jody (RJ) Berger, Waco, TX.

She also is survived by her 7 grandchildren (Connie, Cameron (Chris), Aimee, Blake, Kyle, Justin and Abby (Taylor); 8 great-grandchildren (Tamara, Teresa, Ghatlin, AJ, Brodey, Karl, Cason, Cambree) and 1 great-great grandchild, Greggy and 1 expected in August. Dawn grew up in Bellingham, she married and moved to Blaine and raised her family. She retired after 25 years as a teller at Bank of America.

She loved life and lived it for the adventure that it was. She took many cruises throughout her life up until the death of her husband in 1999, she co-owned a motorhome with her sister and took many adventures around the west coast. She was a member of Ferndale OES, past-matron of Blaine OES.

She graduated Bellingham High School in 1944 and attended monthly luncheons until her health prohibited. She also was close to her group of “Sunnylanders” from her elementary years. In lieu of flowers the family requests you donate to Whatcom Hospice or a charity of your choice.
