Obituary for Dean Jefferis (Buffalo) Vernon “Dean” Jefferis, son of the late Burley and Vernie Margaret (Taylor) Jefferis, was born on July 12, 1930 in Olive, MO, and departed this life on September 3, 2018 at his home near Elkland, MO. At the time of his passing he was 88 years 1 month, and 21 days of age. Dean was reared in Olive, MO and attended school at the Olive School and Fair Grove High School.

After graduation, he was united in marriage to Edna Fay and together they moved to Garden City, KS where he worked at a Super Market. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during the Korean War. After his service, he worked at Highland Dairy for 12 years before taking over the family dairy farm from his father.

He ran the dairy until the late 1980’s when he went into beef cattle. Dean was always active in the school system. He was a member of the school board and always supported the district in any way he could.

He also enjoyed flying model planes, which lead him to a love of flying. He received his pilot’s license at the age of 60 and was a proud member of the Missouri Pilots Association. He owned his own plane which he flew as long as his health permitted.

Dean was also a commander of the American Legion. Dean was preceded in death by his wife Edna Fay; his parents; and his son-in-law, George Walker. He is survived by his son Randy & wife Charlotte Annette Jefferis of Fair Grove, MO; his daughter, Lynette Walker of Elkland, MO; and three grandchildren, Greer Richardson, Miller Richardson, and Jacob Davis.
