Debbie VanEssendelft, 62, of West Sayville, LI, died on June 25, 2018, after a long illness. Born in Sayville, Debbie was raised in North Babylon. She graduated from North Babylon High School before attending Hofstra University where she earned both her Bachelors Degree, as well as her Masters Degree.

In 1976, Debbie married Ken VanEssendelft and the two settled in West Sayville. Debbie was a Girl Scout Leader, a former member of the West Sayville Fire Department’s Ladies Auxilary and served on the Sayville School Board for the past 26 years. Mrs. VanEssendelft is survived by her husband, Ken, her daughter, Kate, her parents, John and Jean Thompson of Aquebogue, her sister, Karen Stephan and her husband Vinny of Sayville, as well as her two nephews, Zachary and Matthew Stephan.
