OBITUARY Deborah L. English Cabell April 27, 1947 – December 5, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Deborah Louise English Cabell, 71, a lifelong resident of Beaumont, passed away on Wednesday December 5, 2018. She was born on April 27, 1947 to Morris Cullen “Knobby” English and Dorothy Louise Hayes English. Deborah’s parents were founding members of Trinity United Methodist where she began her journey with God.

She later continued that journey at Beaumont’s First Baptist Church. After graduating from Beaumont High School, she sought a bachelor’s degree in studio art from Lamar University. While at Lamar, she joined the Kappa Delta Sorority where she was voted “Miss Gracious Living”.

Towards the end of her studies, she met and married Thomas John Koger. They had two children, Christopher Cullen Koger and Jennifer Louise Koger. After twenty years, she returned to Lamar and completed her art degree.

In 1992, she married David Winston Early Cabell and joined Cabell Publishing Company. She retired after twenty years of service. Debbie conducted her life with vivacious grace and style in every role she played.

Her attention to detail was – and may continue to be – unparalleled. Debbie could not stop her artistic expression, beginning with drawing elaborate murals on Dorothy’s immaculate walls from the early age of four. She used her artistic talent to serve her friends, family, and church through her lifetime.

Her greatest artistic achievement, a series of colorful abstract paintings, were born out of significant life experiences and transitions. Large-scale prints now hang in the halls of Beaumont’s First Baptist Church. Her stunning elegance is the thread she pulled throughout her life’s journey, and we are richer for it.

Deborah is survived by her loving husband of twenty-six years, David Cabell of Beaumont, son Christopher Koger, daughter Jennifer Hamilton and husband Jay of Davenport, Iowa; brother Breck English and wife Toni of Austin; six grandchildren: Stormy and Zoey Koger and Lucy, Winston, John, and Rose Hamilton; nephew Jason English and wife Chastity, and niece Brandy Nicole English. Visitation will begin on Monday December 10, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at the Beaumont’s First Baptist Church Commons Hall at 3739 N. Major Drive in Beaumont. A Celebration of Deborah’s Life Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary followed by burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations to the Alzheimer’s Association and Beaumont’s First Baptist Church.
