Debra Jean (Clayton) McDonnell, 68, of East Moline, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 7, 2019, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association. Debra was born on October 6, 1950, in Rock Island, the daughter of Roy and Bonnie (Mewes) Clayton.

She was a 1968 graduate of Rock Island High School. Debra married Roy A. McDonnell on April 18, 1970, in Rock Island. She worked as a hairdresser in the area for 7 years and later managed the George O Barr Elementary School cafeteria for about 17 years, where she made really good friends and retired in 2009.

She was a member of QCA Gourd Patch and was a gourd artist, specializing in one of a kind pieces. Her greatest joy was creating and learning new techniques of art work. Survivors include her husband, Roy; daughters, Jenny Green, Barstow, and Holly (J.J.) Brokaw, Andalusia; grandchildren, Jakob, Jaxon, and Jameson Brokaw and Jamie and Joey Green; siblings, July McElroy, Milan, Brenda Chewning, Pennsylvania, Cheryl (Steve) Reist, Muscatine, Teresa (Mark) Lucas, Wilton, IA, Tawnya Schroeder, Wisconsin, Kelly (Dean) Behrens, Davenport, and Steve (Mikki) Edmonds, Coal Valley.

She was preceded in death by her son, Roy, her parents, and her stepfather, Don Edmonds. Memories may be shared on the tribute wall.
