Delores A. Gehr, 96, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, October 28th, 2018. Delores was born September 16th, 1922 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Frank and Florence (Trester) Derus. Delores attended St. Dominic School and Sheboygan North High School, graduating in 1941.

Delores married Stanley Gehr at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Sheboygan on February 7th, 1942. Mrs. Gehr was a member of St. Dominic parish most of her life and most recently a member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Sheboygan. Delores truly cherished her entire family and her many friends.

She enjoyed working in her kitchen preparing meals and goodies for all. She loved her plants, flowers and all of the holidays, especially the Christmas season when she could decorate. For 16 years she portrayed Mrs. Claus at Younker’s Santa Land along with her husband Stanley (Santa).

She also enjoyed playing cards, bingo, games, going out to eat and traveling. She was a former member of the Christian Mothers Society and spent many years as a girl scout and cub scout leader. She was employed at the Vollrath Company for many years during World War II as well as the Knights of Columbus and Prange’s Department Store.

After her retirement Delores and her husband, Stanley traveled by van and trailer to 48 of the 50 states and Canada. Special trips included Hawaii, Europe and Antigua. Delores is survived by her three children: Sandra M. (Harold) Wright of Howards Grove, David M. (Rebecca) Gehr and Stacie M. (John Porten) Gehr of Sheboygan; six grand children: Christopher Wright, Michael Wright, Carson (Barbara) Wright, Leah (Luke) LeClair, Chad Gehr and Ashley (Brad) Hafemann; her great grandchildren, Mckeon and Hollynd LeClair, Aidan and Corinne Wright and Edyn Hafemann; one sister Rose Marie Henke of Sheboygan, and one brother James (Donata) Derus of Sun City, Arizona; and a sister-in-law, Donna Webb of Sheboygan;.

Many relatives and friends also survive. Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, her parents Frank and Florence Derus and her brothers-in-law, Robert Henke and John Webb. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM, Saturday, November 3rd at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church with Fr.

Dennis Van Beek officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may gather at the church, 1444 S. 11th St. on Saturday from 9 AM until the time of Mass at 11 AM.

A memorial fund has been established in Delores’s name. Delores’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan and for the compassionate care at Aurora Grafton and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center.
