Delores Dee Dee Ann Harris , August 15, 1963 — June 16, 2018

Our beloved Delores “Dee Dee” Ann Harris, age 54, gave up time for Eternity as she transitioned from earth to Eternal rest, Saturday, June 16, 2018 at her residence in Raleigh, North Carolina. It is most difficult to lose a loved one, but we give thanks to God, Our Holy Creator for her life and the opportunity to share her with family and friends. Although her physical body will no longer be present, her memory will forever be a part of our hearts.

“Dee Dee” was born August 15, 1963 in the village of Monticello, Sullivan County, New York, to the late Ms. Bertha Mae Harris and Mr. Harold Whitehead. In the mid 1990’s, Delores relocated from New York City to Albemarle, North Carolina, where she would eventually establish roots and raise her three children to adulthood. She received her high school credentials from Stanly Community College, Albemarle, North Carolina, just before becoming a grandmother for the first time- proving that it’s never too late to finish what you’ve started.

Delores was a member of Greater Victory Temple Ministries, Albemarle where she belonged to the church choir. Along with singing, she enjoyed gathering with family to eat good food, play a few card games, dance to nostalgic music, and laugh at the retelling of old memories growing up in Harlem. Her other hobbies included: cooking, traveling and shopping.

To use the term “fashionista” would be an understatement; she always looked her best. Watching her favorite television programs was also a of enjoyment. “Dee Dee” especially enjoyed watching the Food Network which featured “her boyfriend” world renowned chef, Bobby Flay.

In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in death by a brother, Chris Harris. She was married to Anthony Harris, Albemarle, North Carolina. Many fond and loving memories of a life well lived will forever be cherished by her sons: Ralph Harris, Charlotte, North Carolina and Antwoin (Cherelle) Harris, Raleigh, North Carolina; daughter, Malaysia Harris, Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren: Kylen and Kylie Harris; brother, Keith (Serita) Harris, Charleston, South Carolina; sisters: Rosie (Johnnie) Gatling, Concord, North Carolina and Catreana Harris, Albemarle, North Carolina; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
