Obituary for Mrs. Deloris Simon Thornton Texada Mrs. Deloris Simon Thornton Texada Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 22, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lebeau, LA. Visiting hours will be observed from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM Friday, June 22, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be held in St. John Missionary Baptist Cemetery in the community of Bolden.
Born on September 1, 1930 to the late Josephine Rocio and Freeman Simon, Deloris Simon began her abundant life in Palmetto, LA. She accepted Christ at a young age, attending St. John Baptist Church. She joined Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lebeau, LA until the time of her death.
Lonnie dedicated her life to her family. She was hard working and determined. She served as a bus driver with the St. Landry Parish School Board for 28 years.
On June 11, 1955, she married Curlen Thornton. On September 30, 1958, the Lord blessed their union with a daughter, Debbie. On March 1, 1987, God blessed their union once again, this time with twins, Amanda and Cassandra.
After the death of Curlen in 1987, God bestowed his faith in Deloris by marriage to Winston Texada on January 7, 1991. The two remained married until his death in 1996. Lonnie will be remembered for her generosity, faith, and humility.
Deloris is proceeded in death by her parents: Josephine Rocio and Freeman Simon, two brothers: Alvin Simon and Jessie Simon Sr., three sisters: Viola Hayes Green, Lois Spencer, and Shirley Jackson, husbands: Curlen Thornton and Winston Texada, and her sister-in-law Mary Louise Simon. Continuing to live through her are her daughters, Debbie Thornton and Cassandra Thornton of Palmetto, LA, & Amanda Thornton of Houston, TX. Carrying on her legacy are her three most prized possessions, her great grandchildren: Jaleel Richard, Bella Offord, and Liam Thornton, four sisters-in-law: Vivian Edwards of Palmetto, LA, Lillie Young, Mabel Gordon, and Veronica Simon all of Houston, TX, two brothers-in-law, Clarence Texada Jr. (Shelia), Oneal Texada Sr. (Betty) of Houston, TX, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
She also leaves behind a special friend Johnnie Mae Tezeno. A special thanks to two nephews: Donald Wayne Andrews and Jessie Simon Jr., two nieces: Katherine Hayes Smith and Mercedes Davis, all of Palmetto, LA. Share words of comfort with the Texada family at www.
