Delors Jean (Boyd) Chaney was the eleventh child born to the union of James and Julia (Williams) Boyd on August 22, 1935 in Hope, Arkansas. She departed this earthly life on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Lutheran Life Villages. Delors came to Fort Wayne, Indiana at the age of 18 and graduated from Central High School in 1954.

She met Robert Birden Chaney and united in holy matrimony and was blessed with five children. Delors accepted Christ at an early age and baptized at the Commonhill Baptist Church. After her arrival to Fort Wayne, she became an active member of Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev.

John Dixie. She later joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. James W. Bledsoe.

She was a faithful member and enjoyed her church family. During her membership, she served as a Missionary and sang in the choir, until her health began to decline. After moving to the Waynedale area, she would often attend Waynedale Baptist Church where former Pastor Wayne Gullion and congregation held a special place in her heart.

During her lifetime, she managed to have two careers. She had a special love for sewing and was a seamstress for the Fort Wayne State Developmental Center for 12 years. She then changed her career and became the Head Cook at Lutheran Hospital until she retired after 19 years of service.

Delors was preceded in death by her parents, James and Julia Bond Sr.; siblings, Eulah Jefferson, Mattie Jefferson, Mae Ola Wheaton, Henrietta Taylor, Beulah Sumlin, Lizzie Grier, Cleodis Boyd Sr., James Boyd Jr., and Thomas Boyd; oldest son, Lee Birden Chaney and granddaughter, Keisha LaShay. Delors leaves to cherish her memory children, Brenda Kay Chaney, Keith Eugene Chaney, Angelene Rene Chaney-Fair and Tyrone Chaney; sister-in-law, Earlene Boyd, 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren with two more on the way, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
