Denise A. Ackerman, 66 of Mancelona, died May 8, 2018 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. She was born May 18, 1951 in Detroit, the daughter of John O. and Beatrice H. (Willis) Young. Denise graduated from Traverse City High School in 1969 and she worked for her family’s business Bowers Harbor Grocery Store and Marine.

Upon moving to Mancelona, she began a wonderful career at the Antrim County News (Antrim Review) as their circulation manager. Denise was kind and compassionate and loved spending time with her grandson Kirk. She also enjoyed planting flowers, gardening, and camping.

Surviving Denise is her son Jason (Laura) Ackerman, her grandson Kirk Ackerman all of Mancelona, and her brothers Scott (Leslie) Young and Todd (Alison) Young all of Traverse City. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers Kirk and Greg Young. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 19 at 1 pm at the Custer Township Hall, Mancelona.

A gathering of family and friends will follow until 3:30 pm. Arrangements have been handled by the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Please sign her online guestbook www.
