Obituary for Denise Crisp Markham Denise Crisp Markham, age 51 of Bandy, VA passed away suddenly at her home on Saturday, April 7, 2018. She was born September 7, 1966 at Bluefield, WV and was the daughter of Mavis McReynolds Crisp of Dix Creek, VA and the late Donald E. Crisp. Denise was a 1984 Graduate of Tazewell High School.
She attended Southwest Virginia Community College and Cecil County Community College in Maryland, where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She was a former Registered Nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Denise had worked in the EMS field in Tazewell County for many years and was instrumental in the start of Jeffersonville Rescue Squad.
She loved being outdoors, four-wheeling and shooting guns. Denise had a love of animals and music. She was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Markham; her fiancé, Lonnie Baker; paternal grandparents, Clifford and Lucille Crisp; maternal grandparents, Walter and Irene McReynolds; nephew, Johnathan Reynolds. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her son, Eric Brandon Patterson and wife, Ella of Garrettsville, OH; her daughter, Melody Speeks of Radford, VA; three grandchildren, Connor Brayden Patterson, Kylee Sage Bennett and Roland Alexander Bennett; sister, Lisa Altizer and husband, Sam of Bluefield, VA; brother, Donald Walter Crisp and wife, Samatha of Greenville, WV; nephew, Dustin Crisp of Greenville, WV and her canine companion, Raven; numerous family members and friends also survive. Funeral services for Denise Crisp Markham will be conducted at 2:00 pm Tuesday, April10, 2018 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with Garland Bandy officiating.
Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Pallbearers will be Dustin Crisp, Randy Smith, Justin Hicks, Dalyn Hicks, Ethan Rose and Mark Gross. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 – 9 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2018.
