Denise’s Obituary Denise Rose Gervacio passed peacefully on February 11, 2019 at the age of 44. She is survived by her parents, Tito and Louise Gervacio, and her younger sister, Lindsay Gervacio. A native of Palo Alto, Denise was born on August 15, 1974, at Stanford University Hospital.

She was enrolled in the Special Education Programs of Palo Alto Unified School District, attending Ohlone Elementary School and Palo Alto Senior High School, and graduating in June 1996. As early as three months old, Denise participated in the programs of Community Association for Retarded (CAR) in Palo Alto, now known as Abilities United. In addition to developing an affinity for swimming, Denise loved aerobics and running, even competing in running events in the local Special Olympics. Denise held several jobs, including retail positions at Ross and Strouds. With her infectious spirit, she easily made friends wherever she went – whether it was at school, work, or on vacation.

She loved music – singing, dancing, and music videos. As a super fan of Madonna, Richard Marx, and Wonder Woman, she displayed her inner fierceness, but her loving disposition always made her available for a hearty laugh and a warm hug. In 2000, she moved with her family to Roseville, California.

There, she participated in an adult day program through the Adult Re Center of Placer County (ARC), particularly its Studio 700 Center for the Arts. In celebration of her life, the following gatherings are scheduled at Alta Mesa Memorial Park in Palo Alto: Thursday, February 21, 2:30-5:00 PM: Viewing – 5:00 PM: Rosary Vigil with Reflections and Fellowship; Friday, February 22, 10:00 AM: Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Rosary Church (3233 Cowper Street, Palo Alto) with burial to follow at Alta Mesa Memorial Park.
