Simonsen, 76, of Camp Douglas, died on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse. Dennis was born on August 16,1942 to Alvin and Helen (Lingman) Simonsen. He married Donna Leiendecker on September 5, 1970 at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral in Juneau, AK.

Dennis was a man of deep faith with a huge heart that cared for all those around him. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus as a Knight of the 4th Degree in both Wisconsin and Washington State. Dennis wanted his family to experience as much of life as possible.

To live by example, he and his wife Donna began a day Care and foster care program raising 250 children including 13 foreign exchange students. He worked as a tour agent in Seattle, WA until computers became more relevant. At that time, he went back to school to complete his certification to become a Medical Assistant.

Dennis was a true gentle man and will be missed deeply by all who knew him. Dennis is survived by his wife, Donna; daughter, Daphney Newtson; son, Devon; grandchildren, Zachary and McKenzy; sister, Carol (John) James; niece, Natalie (Wes) Stafford and 3 children of Kodiak, AK; nephews, Brian (Shannon) and 5 children; Stanley (Pam) and 4 children. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A prayer service will be held on Friday, February 8, 2019, 7:00 P.M. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E Monowau St, Tomah. Monsignor Richard Gilles will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday from 5:00 pm until the time of the service. The Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.
