When I die, bury me deep. Lay two speakers at my feet. Put some earphones on my head.

And always play the grateful dead Dennis James Santos II peacefully passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019, at his home in Bristol, RI, with his guitar by his side. Born February 23, 1987; Dennis never met a stranger, and had friends he considered family in every nook & cranny of the nation. He was kind.

He had a smile so big it did light up the whole world, and a heart to match. Dennis cared deeply for his family and friends. When he looked at you with those soulful blue eyes you knew you were loved, and in the presence of someone truly special.

Dennis loved animals and children and leaves behind many of both. Dennis leaves behind his very special kitty Cheeba. He also enjoyed fishing with his Father, playing his fiddle, attending concerts and raving with his friends, and cooking- and boy He was quite a chef OK!

! The greater part of Bristol County, RI and even Boca Grande, FL were delighted by his culinary expertise and dashing good looks! He loved being a chef and had a very high work ethic.

The Bristol Buffet will greatly miss their chef. Dennis also enjoyed going to the beach with his mother and talking to her on the phone. Dennis also loved music -he played several instruments, and enjoyed many different types of music including The Grateful Dead, Hank Williams Sr, and Cannibal Corpse just to name a few.

Dennis was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandfather Dennis R. Santos, and his maternal Grandparents Delbert And Bertha Nestell, and Uncle Gerry Nestell, and Aunt Marion Nestell. He is survived by his father Dennis James Santos, his mother Doreen Mary Nestell-Burt and her husband, Paul Burt, his paternal grandmother Carol Anne Santos, his favorite Auntie April K. Santos, his uncles John Nestell “U.J.”, Ronnie Nestell, Delbert Nestell, Jimmy Nestell, Michael Nestell and several cousins. He is also survived by his love, Amanda Tavares, to whom he wished to propose, as he confided in his mother.

Dennis in true Deadhead fashion could usually be found strolling down the street with a spring in his step, his bandanna clad hair flowing in the breeze, dressed in one of his many tie dyed shirts, and flashing that million dollar smile. A visitation and celebration of life will be held at Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton Street, Somerset, MA, 02726, on Thursday, February 7, 2019, from 6:00pm – 9:00 pm. Although the loss of Dennis has left his family & friends deeply saddened, we are grateful for the time spent with him.

And for the care and love that his Friend Stephanie Palumbo was able to bestow upon him after his passing which had a very special meaning to his family. He was not only friends, but was family to Richard Palumbo and his wife Stephanie Palumbo, he had the honor of marrying them and being Uncle Dennis to their Daughter Zoe Palumbo. Wear tie dye, be kind, love one another, and when you think of Dennis- smile & flash the peace sign.

We think he would want it that way. “A box of rain will ease your pain & love will see you through”.
