OBITUARY Dennis Michael Strauch August 2, 1939 – October 1, 2018 Born on August 2, 1939, in Sacramento, CA he entered peacefully in his sleep into the Kingdom of Heaven on October 1, 2018, after an abrupt and unexpected illness. He was the only son of Ernest and Roberta Strauch. In 1973, he married Margie and so began their wonderful life together as a blended family.
A devout Catholic Dennis was very proud of his graduation from Sacramento High School. Dennis enjoyed his early days of learning a craft that would take him into retirement. Upon retirement they settled in Klamath Falls, where they enjoyed their many friends and neighbors.
Dennis was an avid reader, which made shopping for him easy for special occasions, as everyone knew that was a gift he was going to enjoy. He also had a great passion for his many years of flying his plane and once said that one of his greatest joys was watching fellow friends fly over their home and give him the “wave”, which is tilting the wings back and forth, as in saying hello to their dear friend. He was articulate, considerate, and had a tender caring soul.
Sadly Dennis was preceded in death by a tragic boating accident on Folsom Lake in 2014 that took the lives of Dennis’ sons, James Strauch and Toby Strauch. He is survived by the love of his life and dear wife, Margie, daughters Julie Strauch Tiner, Debbie Hummel (JT), Donna Drake, who was adopted by Dennis (Jim), Tammy Vernon and Nicole Halstead (Jason). He is also survived by his sister-in-law’s and brother-in-law’s, Judy and Ron (FL), Marilyn and Frank (FL), and Linda and Jim (CA).
He will be greatly missed by his many grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00pm, with the Rosary at 7:00pm, Tuesday, October 9th at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held October 10th at 10:00am, also at Nicoletti’s.
Burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In celebration of Dennis, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
