Dennis O’Neal Smith, Sr of Pine Bluff, Arkansas was the 8th child born to Leon and Lillie Mae Smith on April 16, 1962 in Crossett, Arkansas. He made his transition from time into eternity on July 8, 2018. Dennis professed his hope in Christ at an early age at the Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church of Crossett, AR.

Dennis graduated from Crossett High School in 1981. After graduating from high school Dennis attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello then later he moved to California. California is where Dennis started his career as a truck driver.

He pursued this career as a truck driver for 29 years. Dennis was a family man, he loved spending time with his family. He also loved dancing, watching his grandsons play sports, cracking jokes and having a good time.

Dennis O’Neal Smith, Sr. truly enjoyed life. He was preceded in death by both parents: Leon and Lillie Mae Smith; his grandparents: Ruth Thrower and Fred Collins; Two older brothers: Melvin and Donald Smith; His baby sister: Ruth Tappin; father in law: James Birdner; one brother-in-law: Perry Handley; one sister-in-law: Angela Smith He was survived by his wife of 22 years Lisa Smith of Lynwood, California; Three daughters: Denika Scott (Kris), Lakeisha Knight( Samuel) and Yasmin Smith (Kha”Liff Daniels) all of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; 3 sons Dennis Smith, Jr. of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Jamarrius Smith of Lynwood, California, and D’nijay Smith of Corna, California; five granddaughters: Serenity Smith, Kristian Scott, Kennedy Paskel, Kha’liegh Daniels and Kori Scott; five grandsons: MarKus Smith, Marques Paskel, Kristopher Scott, Jr., Mark Paskell, Jr. and Kha’liff Daniels, Jr all of Pine Bluff, AR; Three Sisters: Cynthia Hollins (Gary), Hester Handley and Vivian Jackson (Andre) all of Crossett, AR; three brothers: Darror Smith (Gwen) of Lake Village, AR, Mark Smith of Crossett, AR and Lawrence Smith of Malvern, AR; One Aunt: Ovie Thrower of Crossett, AR; Mother in law: Sandra Birdner of Crossett, AR; Brother in law: Ray Birdner of Little Rock, AR and Two Sisters in law: Constance Brown (Geryle) and Doris Smith both of Crossett, AR and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Gates Chapel A.M.E Church of Crossett, AR.

Viewing will be held from 11 until 7 Friday, July 13, 2018 at the chapel of Mitchell Memorial. Burial will follow in the Westview Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service of Crossett, AR.
