OBITUARY Dennis Paul Gardner January 31, 1944 – January 27, 2019 Dennis Paul Gardner “lived, loved, and left” this world January 27, 2019 at his home in Bangor, Maine. He was born January 31, 1944 to Doris Faye and Horace T. Gardner of Machias, Maine. He is survived by his wife Carol Morrison Gardner, his son James Michael Gardner and his wife Katherine, his daughter Jill Gardner Harlow and her husband Frederic, and his dog Gracie Mae.

Dennis was a graduate of Old Town High School and Husson College. He served in the army in Germany during the Vietnam era. Dennis held many positions during his lifetime, working first for the James W. Sewall Co

He served as Town Manager for the joint towns of Mapleton, Castle Hill, and Chapman, then as Assessor/Appraiser for the town of Mount Dessert. In 1986, he opened his own real estate appraisal company, which he operated until his retirement. Along with his wife and children, he is survived by two grandchildren, Michael Gardner and his wife Emily, and Daniel Gardner and his wife Lynn, along with great grandchildren: Isabella, Micah, Alivia, Benjamin, and Andrew.

He is also survived by: sisters Roseann Kenard, Susan Niles and her husband Larry; sisters-in-law Carole Gardner, Beth Gardner, Phyliss Gardner, Cynthia White and her husband Dan; brother-in-law David Morrison; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Stephen Gardner, Hoddy Gardner, and Tom Gardner, mother-in-law Mary Morrison, and several wonderful dogs and grand-dogs. Throughout his life he enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and gardening.

He was an accomplished cook. A generous husband and father, he created a welcoming home that was enjoyed by many of his children’s friends. In his retirement years, he enjoyed walking with Gracie Mae above all else and a trip to the beach was heaven.

At Dennis’s request there will be no funeral services. If you wish to honor Dennis’s memory, please donate to your local animal shelter and take your dog for walk.
