Obituary for Dennis Ray Matthews Dennis Ray Matthews age 65 a resident of Cleveland passed away Tuesday September 11, 2018 at the family residence. He was the son of the late Eugene and Verdie Jenkins Matthews and was also preceded in death by his son Gary Matthews. Dennis was a retired Master Sargent with the United States Air Force with over 20 years of service.

He served during the Vietnam War. He was an avid golfer and talented pool player. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift of storytelling.

He loved his family and was a great mentor and influence on them. He was loyal to his friends as they were to him. He is survived by his sons Doug Bennett and his wife Sheila, Dan Matthews and his wife Joy, Sam Matthews, his daughter Heather Matthews, his grandchildren Dyess Johnson, Shelby Johnson and Atlas Matthews his brother Gary Matthews and his wife April, his sister Cathy Matthews Wilson and several nieces and nephews.

A Remembrance of Life Memorial Service will be held graveside at 4:30pm at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Rodney Dunn officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 until 4pm at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee St. Chapel.
