Dennis Wayne Barker 71, resident of Plain City Utah, left us to be with our Lord Jesus on Friday May 10, 2019. He passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his wife and children. Born on February 26, 1948 in Pell City, Alabama; Dennis was the only child of Wiley and Charity Barker.

At the age of 18, in 1967 Dennis joined the Army National Guard, where he served for 8 years and was honorably discharged on February 10, 1975. After his Military career his gift of conversation and genuine character led him to be a great salesman for 40 years. In 2009 Dennis became a successful business owner of OP-Tanks, in partnership with Craig Saunders.

Op-Tanks is a designing, fabrication, manufacturing, welding and machine shop in Pleasant View Utah, specializing in the manufacturing and sales of water and oilfield tanks. He sold his half of the partnership and retired in January 2015. If you knew Dennis, you know his love for the outdoors; fishing, horseback riding, hunting and camping were all things he enjoyed.

Sitting and talking around the campfire after a day of adventure was something he loved. He was also a real jokester, like the time he decided to put on a stuffed bear head and run out to scare everyone. Also, he was once a member of the Ogden Gun Club where he enjoyed the competition of trap shooting.

One of his favorite things to do in most recent years was spending time in the garage, carrying on conversations about you name it, with most everyone. He is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Barker; his children: Jared Collum, Stephanie (Vernon) Mickle, Nicholas (Lindzi) Barker, Charis (Josh) Sully, Jonathan (Danielle) Barker and Katie Barker. He has eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of whom he loved to watch run around and play.

A Celebration of Dennis’ Life will be held from 7:00-9:00 PM on June 1, 2019 at the Plain City Senior Center 4160 West 2200 North St., Plain City, UT. 84404. Please join us to laugh, cry and reminisce.
