Dewey’s Obituary Mr. Dewey G. Gubbins, 75, passed away March 1, 2019 at Silver Pines Nursing Home in Bastrop, Texas from pneumonia. He is survived by his step daughters Linda McCarthy of Kansas, Tina McCarthy who resides in the family home in Niederwald, Texas along with one granddaughter Naomi Phillips. He is also survived by his other granddaughter Tori Samel, her husband and two great grandchildren all of Missouri, 17 step nieces and nephews, six great nieces and nephews.

Dewey was born in Rochelle, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Talia Gubbins, sister-in-law LaVaughn Davis and one nephew Craig Green. Dewey was a decorated Vietnam War Veteran.

He was awarded a Bronze Star, Purple Heat, Vietnam Campaign Medal and 17 other medal, ribbons and badges. He will be cremated and his remains will reside with his daughter and granddaughter.
