Dollie’s Obituary Dollie Mae Martin Smith was born July 19, 1921 to the late Reverend Nathaniel and Corine Martin. Dollie Mae met and married Timon Smith. At a very early age, they adopted the joy of their life, Arthur Aaron”Rickey” Smith.

She was educated in the Smith County School System. She joined the St. John Missionary Baptist Church in 1940, until her death. She was the oldest living member of St. John.

Some of her greatest memories there were being a part of the ground breaking ceremony, attending the ribbon cutting service leading the way into the new church sanctuary, serving as the President of the Ushers Board for 60 years, and played an integral part in the Bus Ministry. Dollie Mae worked for over 30 years as a Sales Associates at the Shammy’s Boutique and was affectionately known as one of the “Shammy Girls”. On March 19, 2019, Dollie Mae departed this life.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Timon Smith; son, Arthur Aaron “Ricky” Smith, parents, grandparents, five brothers, Pastor L. J. Martin, Edward Martin Sr., D. L. Martin, Pastor John Martin, and Pastor Eddie Gibson; and four sisters, Annie Jewel, Valeria Jefferson, Annie Lee Martin and Marie Daniels. Dollie Mae leaves to cherish her memories one sister, Irene Thurman of Detroit, MI; one daughter-in-law, Sandra Smith; one granddaughter, Jennifer Smith; two great-grandchildren, Varris and Maxillian Smith; two sisters-in-law, Sallie Martin and Quella Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and special friends.
