Obituary of Domenico Pacio Domenico A. Pacio, 82, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. A lifelong resident, Dom was born on August 14, 1936 in Poughkeepsie to the late Thomas Pacio and the late Jeanette Cerilli Pacio. He was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and attended Syracuse University and Ithaca College.

Dom was one of the first in his family to attend college. He played high school football and collegiate football for both post secondary schools and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1959. Domenico was a Physical Education Teacher for Wappingers Falls Schools and served the local community as a sports official for 50 years.

He enjoyed football, basketball, golf, soapbox derby and Mt. Carmel C.Y.O. He was a member of the Italian Center, Football Association of NYS, IAABO, Machinist Club and the Down Town Sports Club.

Domenico is survived by his three daughters; Rita Sands of Poughkeepsie, NY, Jeanette Farrier of Poughkeepsie, NY, and Annette McClenahan and husband of Ft. Myers, FL. Also surviving is one brother Phillip A. Pacio and wife Betty of Hyde Park, NY.

As well as his long time companion Rita Lafalce. He is also survived by his four grandchildren; Thomas Sands and wife, Victoria Ponessa and husband, Corey Farrier, Cody Farrier, one great-grandchild, Tyler Sands, his two nephews Adam and Thomas Pacio, niece Brenda-Jean Iaccino and his grandnieces. Domenico contributed greatly to the local community and impacted the lives of many throughout the years.

He will be remembered fondly by all those who knew his charismatic personality and joyful humor. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 1:00-5:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Mt.

Carmel Church and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Christopher’s Inn Treatment and Recovery Center at Graymoor. stchristophersinngraymoor.org.
