Donald A. “Don” Freehauf, age 91 years, of Jackson, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018, at Froedtert St. Joseph’s Hospital, West Bend. Don was born on June 2, 1927, the son of Carl G. and Frieda (nee Grob) Freehauf. On Dec.

26, 1953, he was united in marriage to his sweetheart Dorothy Bergin, at Holy Angel Rectory in West Bend. When Don was 6 weeks old, his parents moved to Mayfield where he grew up. They purchased a farm with a large feed and flour mill, called Mayfield Roller Mill.

In 1950, Don was inducted into the Army. He proudly served his country for 2 years with the 2nd Armored Division at Fort Hood, Texas and in Germany. Upon discharge in November of 1952, Don returned home to Hartford.

He helped run the John Deere Freehauf Implement Company. Then in 1970, the business was sold and Don went to work for Menasha Corp. in Hartford.

He remained at Menasha for the next 20 years as Maintenance Supervisor until retiring in Nov. of 1989. Upon retirement, Don and Dorothy moved to West Bend.

Don enjoyed many family vacations with his family. They took countless road trips with the children. Dorothy would be the navigator and plan all the trips.

He was truly blessed to have such a talented, gifted and loving wife as Dorothy. She was the world to him. Those Don leaves behind to cherish his memory include his daughter, Debra A. (James) Schellinger and son, Donald P. (Joan) Freehauf.

Four grandchildren; Jennifer Schellinger, Daniel Schellinger, Jacob (fiancee Caitlin) and Jordan (special friend Garrett) Freehauf. Two sisters-in-law; Virginia Kratz and Joan (William) Grote; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; parents, Carl (Frieda) Freehauf; sister, Mary (William) Lehmann; three brothers, Paul (Vivian) Freehauf, Carl (Doris) Freehauf and Frederick (Eunice) Freehauf.

A funeral service in remembrance of Don will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2018 at Myrhum Patten Miller & Kietzer Funeral Home in West Bend. Don’s family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to American Heart Association are appreciated by the family.
