John E. Landvatter, 89, of West Bend was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 23, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born on August 23, 1929 to the late Edwin and Caroline (nee Schuppel) Landvatter in Manitowoc, WI. At the age of six he moved to West Bend.

He graduated from West Bend High School. John enlisted and Honorably served in the United States Air Force. He retired after many years of being a mail carrier United States Postal Service.

He was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in West Bend. John enjoyed music and played in the River City Irregulars Band, Blaskapelle Band, and Christmas Brass Band playing his trumpet. He loved going on his trips to Canada fishing and writing creative poems.

Family was the most important thing to him, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him. Those John leaves behind to cherish his memory include his three children, Karen (James Jr.) Parson of West Bend, Mark (Laura) Landvatter of Slinger, and Becky (Jeff) Padour of Menomonee Falls; Seven grandchildren, James Parson III, Sarah (Kevin) Bush, Daniel (Christine) Poole, Rachel (Pete) Grabowski, Aaron Landvatter, Jesse Landvatter, and Alex Landvatter; eight great-grandchildren, Keegan Bush, Tresten Poole, Kevin Grabowski, Kadin Bush, Tyler Poole, Lilly Parson, Julie Poole, and Avery Parson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Graff; two brothers, Lester Landvatter and Edwin “Bud” Landvatter; And best friend and the only woman he loved, Lois Landvatter. A funeral service in remembrance of John will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 2300 S. Main St., West Bend. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.

Memorials to First Baptist Church in John’s name is appreciated by the family. The family would like to thank The Pavilion at Glacier Valley, Horizon Hospice, and his church and music family for all their help and care. The Myrhum Patten Miller & Kietzer Funeral Homes have been entrusted with John’s arrangements.
