Donald L. Helterbran, 81, of Baden, died Tuesday, January 1, 2019 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 19, 1937 in Leetsdale, to the late Elvie and Frances (McKown) Helterbran. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Baden.

Donald was a retired mechanic with the signal battalion for the Army National Guard. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his wife, Roseanne (Tunney) Helterbran and a brother, Les Helterbran. Surviving are two daughters, Tracey (Frank) Blosnick of Hopewell Twp.

and Patricia (Chris) Panek of Fombell, four grandchildren, Patrick and Addison Blosnick and Hayden and Piper Panek, a sister, Dorothy (Pat) Mellott of Virginia, numerous nieces and nephews, a sister-in-law, Patricia Helterbran of Venice, FL, and good friends, Dave and Shirley Kuniewicz of Baden. Friends will be received Friday from 4 to 8 PM in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. 833 Kennedy Dr. Ambridge where prayers will be offered Saturday at 10:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Interment with full military honors provided by the Beaver County Special Unit and the US Army will follow at 12:20 PM in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to LuAnn Huber and VitasHospice for the compassionate care extended to Donald during his final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, 5115 Centre Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15213.
