Leonard David Armstrong, 73, of Raccoon Twp. died Sunday, February 10, 2019 in the Aspinwall VA Medical Center. He was born on May 25, 1945, in Buckhannon, WV to the late Lionel (Edith Pearl Mick) Armstrong , grew up in Anmoore, WV.

and graduated from Bridgeport High School. He worked for the American Bridge Division of United States Steel Corporation and retired as a lock and dam operator for the Army Corp of Engineers. He proudly served his country in Vietnam as a member of the US Navy.

His passions in life were family, working with his hands and enjoying nature. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his stepfather, Jess Ray Bailey and former wife and mother of his children, Maria Armstrong, He is survived by his fiance and loving caregiver, Sharon Shingleton, two sons, Nathan Lee (Jill Marie Snyder) Armstrong and Neil Adam (Michelle Vos) Armstrong, seven grandchildren, Alysa, Nathan Jr. and Jason Armstrong, Timothy, Matthew and Damon Snyder, and Dorian Trader, sister, Dora Susie Armstrong Thompson of Clarksburg, WV, brother-in-law, Edward Marty Thompson, stepbrother, Bradford R. Bailey of Quiet Dell, WV, stepsister, Donna J. Bailey, nephews, David (Peggy) Thompson, Michael R. Thompson and Steven Thompson of Clarksburg, WV. nephews, David ( Peggy ) Thompson of Elkins, WV, Michael R. Thompson, and Steven Thompson of Clarksburg, WV, great nephews, Derek, Troy, Steven, and Hunter Thompson of Clarksburg, WV, and David Thompson, Jr. of Grafton, WV, great niece, Chasity Kettleson of Thornton, WV, nieces, Shelli Anderson, Amber Smith, and Courtney Bailey, all of Clarksburg, WV Friends will be recieved on Wednesday from 4 PM until time of funeral service at 7:30 PM in the John Syka Funeral Home, 833 Kennedy Drive Ambridge.

Addition visitation will take place on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM in the Amos-Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison St., Nutter Fort, WV. where a funeral service will held Friday at 11AM. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Park, Mt.

Clare, WV.
