Janet E. (Bender) Shelkons, 66, of Baden, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019 in her home surrounded by her loving family following a lengthy illness. She was born February 22, 1953 in Sewickley, to the late Clifford and Verne Starr Bender. She was a 1971 graduate of Ambridge High School.

She was a former purchaser for Miller Printing, North Side and a sales office manager for Main Steel, Harmony. Janet was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Baden, Baden Womens Club, and Baden Legion Ladies Auxillary. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, knitting, and embroidery.

She participated in a clinical trial at Allegheny General Hospital that resulted in the approval of immunotherapy as a first line of defense for treatment of lung cancer. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was a sister Joyce Lint. Surviving are her loving husband of 36 years, John J. Shelkons, a son, Timothy (Diana) Lois of New Brighton, two daughters, Rachel (Craig) Silberger of Baden, Sara Shelkons (Jon) Wanchik of Point of Rocks, MD loving GJ to Hailey and Nathan Silberger.

Friends will be received Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. 833 Kennedy Dr. Ambridge. Additional visitation will take place Wednesday from 9:30 AM until time of prayers at 10:30 AM. A church service will follow at 11AM in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 399 State St., Baden, PA 15005 with her pastor Jill McGregor officiating.

Interment will follow in Economy Cemetery.
