Stephen M. Solomich, 92, of Harmony Townnship, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 in Concordia at Villa St. Joseph. He was born January 11, 1927 in Ambridge to the late Michael and Mary (Dacko) Solomich. He was a retired inspector in the tin mill department of the former J & L Steel Corporation.

Stephen was a 1944 graduate of Ambridge High School and attended Clarion University. He was the manager of the Ambridge swimming pool where he served as a swimming and diving instructor. He was an avid Steeler and Pitt Panther football fan.

Preceeding him in death in addition to his parents were eight brothers and sisters, Anna Petricko, Kathryn Slobodian, Charles Solomich, Nick Solomich, John Solomich, Thomas Solomich, Mary Varhol, and Agnes Stasny. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Vera Prisiaz Solomich, two sons, Daniel (Linda) Solomich of Gaithersburg, MD, David (Marci) Solomich of Troy, MI, five grandchildren, Benjamin, Sophie, and Anna Solomich, Michael (Kate) Solomich, Michele Solomich, a great grandson, Parker Solomich, and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 in the Syka Funeral Home, 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, from where a funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1 PM with Rev.

James Young, pastor of Baden United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in SS Peter and Paul Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Stephen’s nurse, Judy Miller who was a God send.
