Obituary for Donald Ray Cleveland Donald Ray Cleveland, age 68 of Berwind, WV died Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA. He was born December 14, 1949 at Bluefield, WV and was a son of the late Orbie Virgil Cleveland, Sr. and Hazel Irene McCoy Cleveland. Don was a retired coalminer, having worked for several years with various local coal companies.

Mr. Cleveland was a Veteran of the United States Navy. He was of the Christian faith and was a Senior Deacon and dedicated member of the Canebrake Freewill Baptist Church in Canebrake, WV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Florence Abigail Wimmer, Vida Irene Strupe and Viola Faith Fuller; one brother, Marvin Kyle Cleveland.

Those who survive to cherish his memory include his loving wife of forty-nine years, Elda Kaye Dishman Cleveland; one son, David Ray Cleveland and wife, Mary Ann of Richlands, VA; one daughter, Sarah Kay Cleveland of Berwind, WV; one brother, Orbie Virgil Cleveland, Jr. and wife, June of Chicago, IL; grandson, Christopher Cody O’Byrne; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive. Funeral Services for Mr. Cleveland will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with the Reverend Darrell Long officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2018. Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA is serving the family of Mr. Cleveland and those wishing to express sympathy online may do so at www.
