Mr. John Donald Stanfield, Sr., 78, of Gaston, passed away Monday, May 21, 2018 at Providence Health in Columbia. Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock, Thursday morning, May 24, 2018 at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Doctor’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born April 15, 1940 in Walterboro he was a son of the late George Marion Stanfield and Mary Elizabeth Hiott Stanfield. He was a retired driver for Upchurch Logging and was a member of Doctor’s Creek Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching westerns.

Surviving are: his wife of 50 years, Deloris Cook Stanfield; sons, John Donald Stanfield, Jr. and his wife Julie of Lexington and Thomas Marion Stanfield of Columbia; sister, Bobbie A. Crosby of Round O; brothers, Wayne Stanfield and his wife Sarah of Summerville and Marvin Stanfield of St. George; 5 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Alexandria and Ashley Stanfield. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 at THE BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOMES AND CREMATORY, WALTERBORO CHAPEL, 1193 Bells Highway, Walterboro, 843.
